Started in a Yale Road garage.
Twelve years later, 3,200 properties.
Same 30-day guarantee. Same property walk-through before quoting. Same crew lives in the city we work in. The depth is what changed.
Why we started
GreenGuard started in 2014 because we had spent enough seasons watching weed control in the Fraser Valley get treated as an afterthought. The national franchises sent technicians who did not know the streets. The one-truck operations vanished after one season. There was a gap for a local outfit that would take it seriously, run year-round, and treat every property like the crew lived next door.
The first year was a borrowed sprayer, a Provincial Pesticide Service License, and a list of properties in Sardis. The pitch was simple. A 30-day guarantee in writing. No asterisks. No exclusions. If a weed came back, we came back.
That guarantee is still the operating model. The crew has grown, the routes have expanded to nine cities, and we now run scheduled treatments from Hope to Yarrow. The program a customer signs up for in 2026 is structurally the same one we offered in 2014. Property walk-through before quoting. Written treatment plan. Photo log after every visit. 30-day guarantee with no fine print.
What has changed is depth. Twelve years of treating Fraser Valley properties means we know which neighbourhoods see crabgrass pressure starting in mid-March (Promontory) versus mid-April (Eastern Hillsides). We know that Sumas Prairie soil chemistry needs a different herbicide blend than the Yale Road floodplain. We know Hope properties need iron sulfate alongside selective herbicide because mountain-valley moss outpaces every Lower Mainland service that comes through.
That depth does not come from a national franchise script. It comes from running the same streets for a decade.
Twelve years of work
- 2014
Founded
First quarterly route in Sardis. Provincial Pesticide Service License in hand. Twelve customers, one borrowed sprayer, a 30-day written guarantee.
- 2016
Pre-emergent program
Added Defense System 02 after two seasons of watching customers lose ground to crabgrass. Pre-emergent timing became the discipline that defines our March schedule.
- 2017
Commercial division
First strata contract in Garrison Crossing. Built a parallel program for industrial parks and commercial campuses with monthly billing and compliance docs.
- 2019
Hardscape and perimeter
Launched Defense Systems 04 and 05 for driveway and fence-line treatment. Customers had been asking for a year. We waited until we had the right long-residual products.
- 2021
1,000th property
Crossed the threshold mid-season. Same operating model as year one. The 30-day guarantee held.
- 2023
Hope and Agassiz routes
Expanded scheduled coverage east into the canyon and across the Fraser. Required dedicated equipment and a moss-iron protocol for the Hope microclimate.
- 2026
Nine cities, 3,200+ properties
Routes from Hope to Yarrow. Six Defense Systems on the menu. The program is structurally the same one we offered in 2014. The depth is twelve years deeper.
Licences and coverage
Provincial Pesticide Service License
BC Ministry of Environment licence required for commercial weed control. Renewed annually with continuing education.
Integrated Pest Management (IPM) certified
Trained in the IPM framework: weed pressure assessment, threshold-based application, and minimum-effective-dose protocols.
WorkSafeBC cleared
All technicians registered, insured, and current. Clearance letter available on request for strata and commercial accounts.
$5M liability coverage
Commercial general liability insurance. Certificate of insurance available for any property owner or management company that requires it.
The 30-day guarantee is not a marketing line. It is how we run the business.
If a treated weed comes back inside the window, we come back. No paperwork. No discussion. No charge. The guarantee is also why we insist on a property walk-through before quoting. We have to know what we are guaranteeing.
Twelve years and we have never refused a guarantee callback. We do not plan to start.
